TuneFactory AS is where new products get built, put in front of real users, and either earn their own company or get shut down. Here is how it got here, and who runs it.

The story

From one product to many

The company was founded around a single product: a collaboration platform for songwriters and producers. It reached a working MVP, a soft launch and a first group of 30–40 test users.

That project showed how much of building a company is finding out whether anyone needs what you make. At the same time, AI made software far cheaper to build. Together, that made a different model possible: test many ideas quickly instead of betting everything on one.

Today TuneFactory AS is the company behind Notatboka, Orgdata and CommentCrow. Each starts small, gets validated with real users, and the ones that prove themselves are spun out.

Rein Mellbye van Vliet

I hold a master's in entrepreneurship and innovation management from the University of Oslo, and have worked as a consultant on digital platforms and AI. Along the way I co-founded SEFiO, a student-run entrepreneurship fund in Oslo, and worked on how organisations like DNV and Forsvarsbygg could adopt new technology.

Before that I spent ten years as a freelance music producer, which is where the name TuneFactory comes from.

I believe AI should take over the dull work and raise what people can do, not take away the parts of the work that give it meaning. That is the kind of product I want TuneFactory to build.
